DOUGLAS APARTMENTS

The study of a 10 unit apartment building located just outside of downtown Los Angeles in Echo Park focuses on maximizing views, light, and social space. Positioned on a sloped hillside, three different sized units are employed to form and compose the massing and orientation within tight spatial parameters. Strategically organizing the units to provide proper access to 'light and space,' presents four very distinct social zones - a covered breezeway, a public courtyard open to air, a semi-public courtyard open to air, and a roof deck overlooking greater Los Angeles.
